Not far behind the release of Galaxy Game, Computer Space too shared an adaptation of one of the first video games of all time, Spacewar. Although it originally seemed that Nolan Bushnell and Ted Dabney (the creators and later co-founders of Atari) were too late to the mark with the release of Computer Space, it actually turns out that what they released two months later was, frankly a lot better. The machine they had created was leaps and bounds ahead of Galaxy Game, not only techincally but in appearance. The machine that Bushnell and Dabney had created was beautiful- it still holds up and wouldn't seem out of place nowerdays. It really had a theme to the design that perfectly suited the game. It was the first and certainly not the last time we ever see a themed arcade cabinet but that isn't the only reason this particular game is worthy of a place on this list. It is also the first every commercially released video game which is vital considering that is exactly how nearly all games now are distributed like this. Though it only managed to sell 1,500 units, according to Bushnell all his friends loved it " but all my friends were engineers. It was a little too complicated for the guy with the beer in the bar." That certainly is unfortunate but as we know, he went on to be very successful.
